Serving Our Community, Locally and Worldwide

The Rotary Club of Columbia-Patuxent is all about serving the local and international community, and having a lot of fun while we do it. In fact, a typical comment from a guest of our club after joining us for breakfast on a Friday morning is, "I didn't know that I could laugh so much this early in the morning!"

We are an energetic and enthusiastic group of successful small business owners and executives, and we take pride in the fact that our meetings are fun, the wit is quick, the guest speakers are interesting, and the work that gets done in terms of community service is top notch. Anyone looking to participate in another boring business meeting should not apply!

Our list of accomplishments in terms of serving the local and international community is outstanding. Some of the highlights include:

Due to the clubs ongoing fundraising efforts, we have made more than $500,000 in grants to local community non-profit organizations through our Foundation, The Rotary Club of Patuxent Charitable Trust.

We raised more than $200,000 for the Howard County Health Alliance, a non-profit organization serving the needs of uninsured individuals in Howard County.

We received a $300,000 grant to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS in Ethiopia through a three pronged approach of massive public education programs, the establishment of diagnostic laboratories in Addis Ababa, and education programs for HIV/AIDS professionals. The program is now an ongoing program under the auspices of the Ethiopian Government.
